Project Overview

A leading UAE real estate group was developing a new 12,000 sqm commercial parking facility adjacent to a retail complex in Dubai. The original lighting plan specified 200 grid-connected street lights — requiring 4.2 km of underground cabling, 3 transformer substations, and an estimated 14-week civil works timeline. The electrical contractor quoted AED 820,000 for trenching and wiring alone.

Lighting Layout Design

Our engineering team designed a custom photometric layout before production:

Engineering Takeaways

This project reinforced three principles we apply to every Gulf region deployment:

  1. High-temperature BMS is non-negotiable. LiFePO4 chemistry tolerates heat better than NMC, but without a BMS rated to 60 degrees Celsius with active thermal cutoff, even LiFePO4 degrades prematurely in Gulf conditions. Every BF-SSL-21 Series unit includes this protection as standard.
  2. IP65 is essential in dusty environments. The complete dust seal (IP6X) prevented any particulate ingress into LED modules or battery compartments over 12 months — including through two Shamal seasons. A lower IP rating would have been insufficient.
