A split solar street light does one thing differently from the all-in-one design that dominates this category: it takes the solar panel off the lamp body and mounts it on its own bracket. That single change is why buyers ask for it. You can aim the panel at the sun and the light at the road independently. You can put the panel in the open while the fixture sits under a tree line. And the lamp body — with the battery inside it — is no longer sitting directly beneath a sheet of glass that has been absorbing sun all day.
We built this business on all-in-one solar street lights and we still sell more of them than anything else. We now manufacture both. This page covers the split-type range: what the architecture is good for, where the all-in-one is still the better buy, and the specifications of our BF-SSL-ST series — a split-type fixture with a three-sided LED head.

BF-SSL-ST Series Specifications
Four models, sized by solar panel power. Following normal practice for solar lighting, the model number refers to the solar panel wattage — a BF-SSL-ST-60W ships with a 60W monocrystalline panel. All four share the same control mode, color temperature, and IP rating.
Lumen figures are LED-rated output — chip efficacy × drive power — before lens and thermal losses; delivered light at the road is lower.

Battery capacities are published above so you can work out the energy budget for your own site. Run time depends on the dimming schedule we configure for your project — see the FAQ below.
The Three-Sided Head

Most street light heads put every LED on one flat plane behind a flat cover. The BF-SSL-ST keeps the LEDs on a single board but covers them with a curved one-piece lens, which splits the output into three faces: a center face pointing down at the road, and two outer faces set at an angle to it.
What this changes is the shape of the light on the ground, not the amount of it. A flat single-plane head throws a comparatively narrow patch along the road. The angled side faces push part of that same output outward, so the pool spreads wider across the pole line — toward the curb, the verge, and the footway beside the carriageway. For a compound road with a walking path alongside it, or a village street where people, bicycles and cars share the same surface, that lateral spread is the point.
One thing to be clear about: this is a beam-shaping design, not a brightness increase. The lumen figures in the table above are the total output, and spreading them wider means the brightest point directly under the lamp is lower than a narrow-beam fixture of the same rating. That trade is the whole point — you are buying width, not peak.
For projects that need the coverage modeled before ordering, send us the road geometry, pole height and spacing and we will work through the layout with you.
Split-Type or All-in-One?
We manufacture both, so the short version is this:
- Choose the split-type (BF-SSL-ST) when the panel must be aimed independently of the lamp — partial shade, a pole that cannot face the sun, or heat around the battery.
- Choose the all-in-one (BF-SSL series) when theft exposure or installation speed matters most — no external cable, one bracket, 10-15 minutes per pole.
- Neither constraint? The all-in-one is faster and cheaper to put up at volume.
The full ten-factor comparison — orientation, heat, cable, theft, failure points, installed cost — is in All-in-One vs Split Solar Street Light.
Which Model Fits Your Site?
Start from mounting height — it is the constraint that eliminates the most options fastest.
| Application | Recommended Model | Mounting Height | Why This Model |
|---|---|---|---|
| Footpaths, garden roads, compound walkways | BF-SSL-ST-40W | 4-6M | Lowest output in the range, sized for pedestrian-scale lighting |
| Residential streets, estate internal roads | BF-SSL-ST-60W | 5-6M | Mid output with the wider three-sided spread for curb coverage |
| Community roads, campus service roads | BF-SSL-ST-80W | 6-7M | Higher output at the same 80W panel-to-body proportion |
| Compound perimeter roads, larger internal roads | BF-SSL-ST-100W | 6-8M | Largest panel and battery in the series, 160-chip head |

This series is built for pedestrian-scale and internal-road lighting: compound roads, village streets, estate perimeters, campus paths. It is not sized for arterial roads or highway lighting — if that is your project, our all-in-one BF-SSL-22 and BF-SSL-P series carry the higher outputs and larger batteries, or the grid-powered LED flood light range may fit better.
The catalogue configurations above are sized for the default dusk-to-dawn schedule. Projects that need extended multi-night autonomy are quoted as an OEM configuration — tell us your night length and the hours that must run at full output, and we will size the battery for it.
Certifications and Quality Control
Certifications held for this series: CE.
The CE documentation package — declaration of conformity and RoHS statement — is included with every quotation. Markets and projects that accept a CE package can go straight to quotation. Start with your site details.
Quality process:
- Incoming material inspection — LED chip binning verification, battery cell capacity test, solar panel flash test
- Assembly QC — torque verification on all fasteners, waterproof seal integrity test on the head and the panel junction

How to Order: From Inquiry to Delivery
Step 1: Inquiry and Consultation
Tell us the site: mounting height, road or path width, night length, and how many hours you need at full brightness. For split-type installations, also tell us where the panel can go relative to the pole — that determines cable length and bracket type. Response within 24 hours.
Step 2: Sample Order (Optional)
Order 1-2 sample units to install and evaluate on site. Shipped worldwide via DHL or FedEx. Sample cost is deducted from your first bulk order.
Step 3: Bulk Order and Production
Confirm model, quantity, dimming schedule, and any customization. We issue a proforma invoice. Production lead time: 15-35 days standard, 25-55 days for OEM. Payment: T/T 40% deposit, 60% balance before shipment, or as agreed in the contract.
